Each Disney Cruise ship follows the long-standing maritime tradition of having a godmother (or godchildren) present at the ship’s christening. The Disney Wish cruise broke from tradition with a very special concept. Rather than having a single godmother, the Wish recognizes Make-A-Wish children around the world as “godchildren,” a move that even further warms our already fuzzy little Disney hearts. Here are some other facts about the birth of Disney’s latest ship.

Dig In: Dining on Board the Disney Wish

Each Disney Cruise ship has three unique table-service dining options, one of which is an upscale restaurant located just off of the ship’s atrium, usually featuring live entertainment. Aboard the Disney Wish you’ll find:
1923
An homage to the year the Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 encompasses all the magic of the golden age of Hollywood - in particular, its animated films. Sketches and animation stills from animated Disney classics adorn the dining room, which serves classic California fare featuring fresh ingredients from California’s Central Valley. The menu is incredible, with dishes like the 1923 Peppered Filet Mignon accompanied by buttered long green beans, smoked bacon, crushed fingerling potato hash, and pink pepper café au lait, and Burbank Blueberry-Lemon Bavarian Cream, 1923’s signature dessert featuring Ecuador vanilla bean, lemon rocks, and dried raspberry meringue.
Worlds of Marvel
Worlds of Marvel is your chance to have your dinner with a side of adventure (and who doesn’t love adventure?) Savor a selection of Wakandan Salads and Marvel themed entrees, all while utilizing quantum technology to assist Marvel heroes save the ship, the seas…the world. While World’s of Marvel appeals to the kid in all of us, the menu is sophisticated, and just as exciting as the Marvel Universe itself.
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
The name of this restaurant speaks for itself. Enjoy dinner in Arendelle alongside Anna, Kristoff, Elsa, Olaf, and even Wandering Oaken (who knew he wandered as far South as the Caribbean?) Eat, drink and be merry in celebration of Anna and Kristoff’s engagement, complete with live music from “local” musicians specializing in Nordic renditions of familiar “Frozen” songs. While the menu has a Nordic-theme, the dishes are still familiar and sure to please.
Like all good cruise ships - Disney in particular - Disney Wish also features multiple poolside quick-service venues, pool-side cabanas, and the cruisers favorite, nonstop buffets.

Star-Studded and Spectacular: Entertainment Aboard Disney Wish

The sail away party is one of the best parts of every cruise - it’s where the excitement begins. Feel the excitement build as the engines fire up and Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and the rest of your favorites celebrate with a fun-filled show. Count down with the Fairy Godmother until it’s time to pull anchor, at which time the ship’s horn will play its signature song, “When You Wish Upon a Star” as the ship begins to make its way out of port. This traditional part of every Disney Cruise includes fireworks, of course - and it is a fantastic excuse to get done up in your Disney best (we love a costume party - can you tell?)
Seas the Adventure
A distinctive Disney original, this Broadway-style show takes place in the Walt Disney Theatre, taking guests on a magical journey - with Goofy in charge (what could go wrong?!) Sail uncharted waters and discovers together what it takes to become a great captain - with a little help from some famous friends.
With special appearances from Princess Tiana, Crush and Squirt, Elsa, Moana, and Merida, it’s an adventure for the whole family to remember.
Kiss Goodnight
All the best days end with a kiss goodnight. Disney Wish brings magic and romance to each evening with three shows (10 pm, 11 pm, and 12 am) in the lobby atrium where you’ll hear a beautiful rendition of the classic, “So This Is Love,” performed by Ilene Woods. Lights illuminate the ceiling as the iconic chandelier twinkles overhead. Lose yourself in the magic just like Cinderella - until the clock strikes midnight. Although more an experience than a show - and, like most goodnight kisses, it’s brief - the beautiful, immersive nature of Kiss Goodnight makes it one of our favorites.
The Little Mermaid
Another Broadway-caliber show, the Little Mermaid is a stunning performance of Disney’s animated classic. Rediscover the adventure, music, and magic in this world-class production developed exclusively for this ship. Dive under the sea for a one-of-a-kind adaptation perfect for cruisers of all ages.
Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular
The last Broadway-style show offered on the Disney Wish is Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular. Like the Little Mermaid, this is a retelling of the classic with Brodway-caliber production value - and all the classic songs, romance, and humor you remember.

Make a Splash: Hanging Poolside on Disney Wish

Unlike other cruise ships which offer one large swimming pool, there are eight pools aboard Disney Wish, spread across the ship's upper decks - and of course, plenty of hot tubs, too. Four family-friendly main pools (Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Pluto) can be found on Deck 11, with two additional small pools -- Donald's Pool and Goofy's Pool -- located on Deck 12.
Your littlest travelers can cool off in the Toy Story Splash Zone on Deck 12, which offers plenty of water features, from small slides and pop jets to geysers and bubblers.
Suite passengers can access the Concierge Pool on Deck 13 which boasts its own bar, supremely plush loungers and a private, forward-facing deck.
For adults-only, the Quiet Cove Pool, also located on Deck 13, is an infinity-style pool overlooking the ship's stern, bordered by plush chairs and loungers adjacent to the Cove Cafe and Cove Bar.
The very first Disney attraction at sea, the AquaMouse is a massive tube-style attraction where passengers are seated on rafts and pulled up a large, fully enclosed slide filled with digital screens and movie panels accented with colored LED lighting before dropping down the slide itself - and out over the side of the ship.
There are also multiple sun decks aboard the Wish to help you make the most of the gorgeous tropical sun, including a pseudo-promenade deck that spans decks 4 through 6, offering amazing views of the sea and ship.

Youth Gone Wild: How Disney Cruise Line Makes Cruising Magical for Kids

Why don’t we enter more rooms by slide? It’s a valid question.
The Oceaneer Club for kids aboard Disney Wish can be accessed from a slide that starts on Deck 3, whisking kids down a rabbit hole into a wonderland of fun.
Here are some of the coolest things kids can see and do on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish:
Star Wars: Cargo Bay. hosts a first-of-its-kind interactive experience, “Star Wars: Creature Challenge,” where kids become creature handlers and learn to manage some mischievous, exotic beings from across the galaxy, before joining an important mission to help Rey and Chewbacca channel the force and rescue the ship from destruction.
Fairytale Hall. boasts a royal trio of activity rooms where kids join favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens to let their creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and put newfound icy powers to the test at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab. is a brand-new location where kids will discover the secrets of our world-renowned Disney Imagineers with hands-on activities and inventive experiments. Kids will even have the chance to create their own roller coaster and then climb into a capsule where they virtually ride their imaginative masterpiece at the Ride Studio.
Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck. is a brand-new nautical playground for kids that is home to the signature experience “Minnie’s Captain Academy.” During this high-energy training session, kids will play games, dance and participate in maritime “drills” that test their imagination during fun challenges tied to STEAM principles (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).
Marvel Super Hero Academy
If superheroes are more their speed (we’re Slinky Dog aficionados ourselves) there’s the Marvel Super Hero Academy. Kids can immerse themselves in the superhero world, swooping into the top-secret command post of S.H.I.E.L.D. and wielding the weaponry of their favorite Avenger. If that weren’t enough, there are arts and crafts, video games - and even surprise Super Hero visits.
And some of our favorites, Belle’s Library, Royal Fairy Tale Hall, and yes, even Pixar-themed bathrooms (where else can you have fun in the bathroom?!)
For the littlest cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years, It’s a Small World Nursery offers babysitting services in a whimsical environment where little ones play games, make crafts, watch movies, read books and even spend time with special Disney friends.
For the Bigger Kids: Edge
Designed for tweens and teens from the ages of 11 to 14, Edge bridges the gap between the whimsy and cool (kids aged 11-12 can choose to visit Disney’s Oceaneer Club & Lab or Edge).
Entertainment at Edge includes:
Video gaming stations
Tables for arts and crafts
A 98ʺ flat-screen plasma TV for watching Disney movies
Dance floor for parties and games
For the Biggest Kids (besides mom and dad)

For the older kids, ages 14-17, there’s Vibe, housed in the forward funnel of the Disney Magic. Fun for the teens at Vibe includes:
Multiple flat-screen TVs
Video games
Board games
Tablets
Both Vibe and Edge host various activities aimed at tweens/teens both inside the youth clubs and throughout the ship, including pool parties and lunches.

The Bayou Aboard the Disney Wish
As sultry as a Louisiana night, this Princess and the Frog-themed nightspot is adults-only but with the whimsy and wonder that makes Disney so much fun. Sip a hurricane while munching beignets under a breathtaking canopy of magnolia blossoms while enjoying New Orleans-style live jazz.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
Seriously, how cool is this? Even those in our crew who aren’t Star Wars fans loved this fully-immersive lounge that “jumps through Hyperspace,” taking you to iconic locations from the ears of the Republic, Empire, and First Order. Sleek and sophisticated, this lounge features a large and diverse cocktail menu - and a really cool atmosphere and experience.
Nightingales
Classic, elegant, and full of old-world charm, Nightingales piano bar serves up sophisticated specialty cocktails, fun and fizzy champagnes (you are on vacation after all), and a range of fine wines, perfect for a fairytale end to an enchanting evening.
